I love the limited depth of field in this image. This is a nice billy mountain goat located at Mt. Evans. The photo gives the sense that this is really larger than life, but really only stands about 3 and 1/2 feet at the shoulder.
During September, moose enter the rut. This one had a cow cornered in a willow thicket for most of the day, refusing to let her leave to go to the river to drink.
Using a telephoto lens helps to compress the image and makes the objects in the front appear bigger in relation to the objects in the back. You can see that using a small depth of field, it blurs the mountains just enough and really shows how large of an environment this goat lives in.
